Before “Road of the Dragon” was released, HBO planned to release another production set in the “Game of Thrones” universe. “Bloodmoon” was canceled in 2019, although the producers spent as much as $30 million on it.

Five years ago, HBO canceled the Game of Thrones spin-off after only the first pilot episode. The production was never officially distributed, and its creators did not even publish a detailed description of the plot. It is known, however, that the action of the series was to take place several thousand years before the events of the original “Game of Thrones”. The producers apparently wanted to show a spin-off about the world. The canceled spin-off was also supposed to feature Jamie Campbell Bower and Naomi Watts, whose character was described as “a charismatic socialite hiding a dark secret.”

Although the production never saw the light of day, a brief description of the plot was released to the media. The series was to begin with a wedding scene of representatives of two powerful families: Casterly and Stark. The pilot episode of “Blood Moon” directed by SJ Clarkson was produced for 30 million, and yet the station’s management decided not to continue it.

“It wasn’t unwatchable. It wasn’t a terrible production. The series was very well produced and looked exceptional. But it didn’t take me to the same place as the original series. It didn’t have the depth and richness of the original series pilot,” he said Robert Greenblatt, former president of WarnerMedia.

These are not the only productions related to the Game of Thrones universe that were canceled while still in production. This decision was also made regarding two other productions, “Sea Snake/Nine Voyages” and “Ten Thousand Ships”. The main character of the first series was to be young Corlys Velaryon.
