The Podemos Peru congresswoman Digna Calle asked the president of the Economy, Banking, Finance and Financial Intelligence Commission, chaired by César Revilla, to call an extraordinary session to debate the report that empowers members of the Pension Fund Administrators (AFP) to withdraw up to 4 UIT from their pension funds, equivalent to S/20,600.
As is public knowledge, in the Legislative Branch there are 28 bills that could not be approved last year due to the lack of agreement between the congressmen of said parliamentary working group and the opposition of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF). , the Superintendence of Banking, Insurance and AFP (SBS) and the AFP Association. It should be noted that the second ordinary legislature of Congress will only restart in March.
They ask to call an extraordinary session for the AFP withdrawal of 4 UITs
In the letter sent to the head of the Economic Commission of the Congress of the Republic, César Revilla, parliamentarian Digna Calle urged him to call an extraordinary session between February 12 and 16 to debate and approve the report of Bill 4201 /2022-CR that authorizes AFP members to withdraw up to 4 UIT from their individual capitalization accounts (CIC).
According to the Podemos legislator, one of the reasons why the approval of this proposal must be urgently prioritized is that “the school year is about to begin, with expenses on supplies, uniforms, tuition fees and more. The economic crisis and “The indifference of Congress could leave many children and young people without the opportunity to go to school or university.”
Let us remember that, during the last session of this parliamentary working group, held on December 13, legislator Guido Bellido requested the inclusion of this topic on the agenda. However, this proposal was rejected with 12 votes against and only 11 in favor, which caused disagreement among the congressmen who support this measure and thousands of members who expressed their discomfort on social networks.
AFP Retirement 2024: what bills are pending debate?

Of these initiatives, 12 seek the release of up to 4 UIT, three seek to increase the amount to acquire a property or pay debts through the mortgage guarantee, and the majority of the proposals seek that citizens have their savings to face the impacts of the economic recession.
