“Griselda” debuted on Netflix on January 25 and almost immediately became a series hit. The role of the drug lord was played by Sofia Vergara, an American-Colombian actress, known from such productions as “New Year’s Eve in New York” and “Dumb, Dumber, Dumberest”. For the role, the “Modern Family” star underwent an impressive transformation.

However, the appearance of the series’ Griselda was not liked by the youngest (and only living) son of the “cocaine godmother”. Michael Corleone Blanco stated that his mother “was a beautiful woman” and the producers of the Netflix hit deliberately disfigured her. In fact, it is difficult to find any similarity between the main character of the series and the real Griselda.
However, Sofia Vergara assured that this was intentional. “We knew from the very beginning that we didn’t want me to look exactly like Griselda Blanco because we didn’t have time for that. We were doing a TV series, we didn’t have eight hours to do makeup every day. But the most important thing for me was to disappear. For Sofía to disappear, for Gloria Pritchett from ‘Modern Family’ to disappear. I didn’t want people to think, ‘Oh, it’s Gloria with a fake nose’. That was my main concern. It took us a lot of time, we looked at different wigs, noses, eyebrows ” – we read in the actress’ statement quoted by Digital Spy.
For the purposes of the role, the actress’s teeth, eyebrows, hairline, nose and even complexion were subjected to make-up. But that’s not all. The actress who played the main character appeared in front of the camera in clothes that optically changed her figure. Vergara also deliberately assumed an unnatural position when moving, which in turn resulted in a spine injury. One day, she even gave up working on the set due to severe pain. “I couldn’t get up because I’m 50 years old and I was in this strange position, I was walking like this, I was smoking. And the doctor said: ‘You’re crazy. You can’t do this at your age’… I have to be very careful and from go to physiotherapy from time to time, because if I forget about it, the pain comes back,” said the actress.
