“When asked about the ideal woman, he did not hesitate to say that he had already found it.” Brodzisz’s fans were furious

Maria Bogna and Adam Brodzisz were considered extremely beautiful people. He won the “photogenic faces” competition, she was hailed as “the most beautiful type of Polish woman”. However, their relationship was a secret for years because the couple was afraid of how the actor’s fans would react to the news about their relationship. Their fears were justified, because when the women found out that Brodzisz had a wife, they became angry. According to some sources, they tore up his photographs as a sign of protest.

Adam Brodzisz was a very handsome, but also talented man. The path to his career was opened by the “photogenic faces” competition organized in March 1929 by “Wieczór Warszawski”. The portal informs that the man made it to the final eight. The competition was to select the actor who would play the role of the main character of Józef Lejtes’ film “From Day to Day”. Ultimately, Adam Brodzisz was chosen. The man played the main role in an exemplary manner and from that moment on he was in demand. Just a year later, he began working on four more films.

Fame and extraordinary beauty brought Adam Brodzisz a whole crowd of female fans. The website reports that “brodziszomania” began very quickly. Many women began to write to the editorial offices of various newspapers asking to send a photo of the increasingly famous actor. Fans also did not accept any critical remarks about the actor and determinedly fought for Adam Brodzisz’s good name. It is no wonder that when the man met Maria Bogda, he decided to hide their increasingly intimate acquaintance.

Maria Bogda and Adam Brodzisz met in 1928 at the Wiktor Biegański Film Institute in Warsaw. According to the portal’s reports, many people believed that the actress was one of the most beautiful celebrities of that time. She won the “Ilustrowany Kuryer Codzienny” competition for the most beautiful type of Polish woman. The couple quickly attracted attention. Bogna and Brodzisz starred in eight productions together, so they had a lot of time to get to know each other better. However, they decided to hide their relationship. The portal reports that the lovers decided to take such a step because they were afraid of the anger of the actor’s admirers.

When asked in the summer of 1931 about his ideal woman, Brodzisz did not hesitate to say that he had already found it. He only stated that she had to be blonde, interested in sports and meet the following criteria: ‘Height: 165. Very fluffy hair, blue eyes, and she must be shapely and slim.’ At the same time, he emphasized that he hated long hair.

– wrote Marek Teler in the book “Amanci II Rzeczypospolitej”, fragments of which are quoted by the website Wielkahistoria.pl.

The couple got married quietly on August 22, 1930, but they did not want to officially announce that they were together. In 1935, the actor once again described his ideal woman. Nobody knew he was already married.

She should be able to adapt to me, experience happy, joyful as well as sad and difficult moments in my life. Be nice, subtle, balanced. I have to find a lover, a friend, a wife in one person.

– Adam Brodzisz said in interviews. Only in 1938 did the couple officially announce that they had been together for a long time. The actor’s fans did not take it well. According to some sources, as a sign of despair, people tore up his autographed photos en masse.

From post-war Poland to the USA. Bogna and Brodzisz started an unusual business

The pair of actors had been in demand for years, but after World War II it was difficult for them to find work. It is worth mentioning, however, that they did not remain passive during the conflict. When the Warsaw Uprising broke out, they both took an active part in it. Maria became a nurse and also ran a canteen for the insurgents. Adam, on the other hand (during the uprising he was known under the nickname “Bonza”), became a sapper. The couple also cared about the morale of the insurgents. Bogna and Brodzisz often recited poems and sang songs for the audience. However, when Warsaw fell, they moved to Zakopane, where they opened a guesthouse. However, the couple did not feel well in post-war Poland. For this reason, when in 1960 they received an invitation from the American Polish community to perform in theaters, they did not hesitate for a moment. They decided to move to the United States permanently.

The couple lived in Los Angeles. Adam Brodzisz worked there as an employee in a computer company. He and his wife also opened a chinchilla farm. They never had children. Maria Bogda died in 1981, and Adam five years after her. Their ashes were brought to Poland and are located at the Rakowicki Cemetery in Krakow.
