Canadian Duhamel: Russia’s award of bronze in the Olympic team tournament is undeserved
Olympic figure skating champion Canadian Megan Duhamel condemned the awarding of bronze to the Russian team in the team tournament of the 2022 Games. She spoke about the situation on her social network page X.
“They got bronze, which they didn’t deserve, because when one member of the team is caught doping, the team is disqualified (in all other sports). And Russia still believes that this is unfair? What’s wrong with these people?” — Duhamel wrote.

The Canadian Figure Skating Federation also expressed disagreement with the decision of the International Skating Union (ISU) to redistribute the tournament medals. The organization will consider possible options for appealing it.
On January 30, the ISU decided to redistribute the Olympic team tournament medals due to the disqualification and cancellation of the results of Russian Kamila Valieva. The Russian team moved from first to third place, gold went to the USA, silver to Japan. If the Russian team had been disqualified, Canada would have won the bronze.
On January 29, Valieva was disqualified for four years for violating anti-doping rules. The period of suspension is counted from the moment the sample is taken – December 25, 2021. The fact that traces of the banned drug trimetazidine were found in it became known after the end of the team tournament at the Beijing Games.
