In his new work he will feature two Hollywood stars as they join the project Tilda Swinton and Julianne Moore as protagonists of this new film and completes the cast John Turturro to materialize this story. The director’s own brother, Agustín Almodóvar, has also confirmed it on his Twitter account with a photo of the two actresses and Pedro Almodóvar at a script reading.
The producer points out that ‘The Room Next Door’ addresses the story of a very imperfect mother and a spiteful daughter separated by a great misunderstanding. This will be the first feature film shot in English by Almodóvar, who has already made two short films in this language: ‘The Human Voice’, with Swinton, and ‘Strange Way of Life’, with Pedro Pascal and Ethan Hawke. The director from La Mancha pointed out in an interview with EFE on the occasion of the Cannes presentation of the short with Pascal and Hawke that these two short films were two exercises to see how he worked in English, in preparation for his first feature film in that language.
Before ‘The Room Next Door’, the first project that Almodóvar thought of was the film adaptation of ‘Manual for cleaning women’based on the book by the American writer Lucia Berlin, and in which the Australian actress Cate Blanchett I was going to be one of the protagonists.
