Apple will add artificial intelligence (AI) to the iPhone in mid-2024. This was reported by the Financial Times (FT).
According to the experts interviewed, the corporation is massively buying up startups and companies engaged in the study of AI. Since 2017, Apple has acquired 21 companies that are in one way or another related to the development of artificial intelligence technologies and tools. “There’s an AI arms race going on, and Apple isn’t going to be watching from the sidelines,” said Wedbush Securities analyst Daniel Ives.
Morgan Stanley specialists believe that AI will be integrated directly into the iPhone, and revealed the timing of the technology’s appearance. The first such functions will be presented at the WWDC conference in the summer, where iOS 18 will be shown. According to Igor Yablokov, executive director of the corporate group AI Pryon, Apple is in no hurry to present its developments in the field of AI, as, for example, Samsung has already done: “They are waiting until will be able to offer one of the best presentations of this technology.”
According to Dylan Patel, an analyst at semiconductor consulting firm SemiAnalysis, Apple processors are also focused on working with AI. Therefore, artificial intelligence technologies can be added to older devices of the brand.
At the end of 2023, Apple specialists described a new way of working with generative artificial intelligence tools on smartphones. Their method involves processing data using permanent, rather than RAM, device memory.
