The new director of Polish Radio is cleaning up. He abolished the “muzzle resolution”

The former president of Polish Radio made a special mark in the history of the institution. It was during her term that Radio Trójka lost its reputation, and the company’s employees were banned from speaking to other media. The new editor-in-chief of Polish Radio, Pawe³ Majcher, announces changes in this area. “It’s absurd,” he commented.

According to reports, the ban is to end in January. It was introduced in July 2020, when the crisis related to the activities of Radio Three was still a hot topic. Agnieszka Kamińska then ordered that only the spokesperson of Polish Radio could contact other media. The remaining employees had to obtain the necessary consent, which was issued by the company’s management board. Before a decision was made, it was necessary to inform about the topic of the conversation.

Kamińska’s first decisions go to waste. “A movement to try to silence journalists”

Paweł Majcher is the new editor-in-chief of Polish Radio and also the company’s liquidator. In an interview with the portal, he said that employees called Kamiñska’s decision a “muzzle resolution.” – There are many television programs in which radio journalists act as commentators. It is difficult for them to have to obtain consent from the head of the institution every time. It’s absurd, he admitted.

I cannot understand the movement of trying to silence journalists. If a valuable radio presenter is invited to appear on television, i.e. he promotes a given antenna, and each time he has to ask for permission to appear, at some point he will give up, decide that it is humiliating for him or he will not receive the invitation – commented Juliusz Kaszyński, the new vice-president of Polskie Radio.

The company’s new editor-in-chief believes that the rule introduced by Kamińska violated the trust between the company and the employee. In conversations with Polish Radio employees, the Wirtualne Media editorial team heard that they assessed the changes in the functioning of the institution positively.
