Will there be a new series about the “Breaking Bad” star? The actor spoke up

One of the heroes of the cult “Breaking Bad” is Gustavo Fring played by Giancarlo Esposito. During the Emmys, the actor was asked how he would feel about a spin-off involving the character he played. At the same time, he replied that he had several ideas for further development of the universe. Is something up?

Gustavo Fring is one of the most important characters in Vince Gilligan’s universe. We saw the owner of a chicken restaurant and a narcoboss in the series “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul”. And although the story of his character was significantly developed in the second production, some fans are still not very keen – they would like to know the fate of Gus at the very beginning of his entry into the criminal world. Giancarlo Esposito has just revealed the secret about the character he plays. More information from the world of series can be found on the home page.

During the last Emmy gala, the actor was asked directly whether another spin-off of “Breaking Bad” was possible, this time dedicated to this character. Not only did Esposito not deny it, but he also revealed that he already had a few ideas. It would concern the fate of Fring before he gained great influence in the drug world. The actor even has an idea for a title – “The Rise of Gus” would be a prequel to the great hit.

“It should and can be created.” Will we see the further fate of Fring?

“I think there should and could be a spin-off focusing on Fring eventually,” Esposito said. “I have a lot of assumptions that I like to push. If I were talking to Vince Gilligan right now, I would tell him: ‘The Rise of Gus’,” the actor revealed. At the same time, he is aware that the director is currently working on a science-fiction program for Apple and knows that he does not have much time for other projects. But as soon as the opportunity arises, she will immediately come back to him with this idea.

“Since Gus’ rise to power is interesting, it would be interesting to find out what elements Gustavo Fring was made of and where he came from, in the context of his connections with the hierarchy in Chile. And also to see his family history.” – concluded the interview.

The director is evasive about the sequel. Is there a chance for a prequel?

Some time ago, Vince Gilligan announced that he considered the “Breaking Bad” universe to be over after the filming of “Better Call Saul” and “El Camino”. At the same time, if his latest production turned out to be a flop, he could change his mind. Interestingly, he works again with Rhea Seehorn, the star of the series about the adventures of an unconventional lawyer.
