Dorota Sumińska is one of the most famous veterinarians in Poland. He has written many books, from guides, travel reports, novels and biography. The latest one, “My Life with Tomek”, was published in 2023. Sumińska also hosted the “Zwierzowiec” program on TVP1, for 9 years, until 2022, she could be heard in the “I believe in an animal” program on Tok FM. Today, she runs an online program with her daughter. Since childhood, her life has been associated with animals, and she has been educating about good treatment of animals, empathy and vegetarianism for many years. As a teenager, she started a relationship with Tomasz Wróblewski, although not for long. After the breakup, each of them went their separate ways. 30 years later, their paths crossed again.
They fell in love as teenagers and got back together after 30 years
Dorota Sumińska and Tomasz Wróblewski became a couple again when they were both 50 years old. – We broke up, each of us went our separate ways. Each of them lived their life, this young life, in their own way. At that time, I had three husbands, he had one wife – in an interview with “Dzień Dobry TVN”. As Sumińska’s daughter admitted, they often argued, they had different characters, but “they fit each other extremely well.” She connected them, among others: great love for animals.
Dorota Sumińska and Tomasz Wróblewski were a couple for 14 years, but they decided to marry only after they were 60 years old. The reason was ambitious plans, the implementation of which would be difficult without the wedding. As the doctor recalled, they managed to travel around more than half of the world and met thousands of people, cultures and animals. They wanted to spend their old age in Sri Lanka. Legalization was supposed to make it easier for them to buy land and build a house. However, fate turned out to be perverse.

– We were 64 years old, our heads were full of plans and we had already bought flight tickets in our pockets. Unfortunately, we didn’t make it. It all burst like a soap bubble and my whole world collapsed. Tomek left when I needed him so much… – she said in the interview
Great plans were interrupted by Wróblewski’s death. On their wedding day, the man suddenly lost consciousness. – We returned home in a champagne mood. And a moment later, Tomek fell in the kitchen, he was blue and unconscious – Sumińska recalled in “Viva!” After long resuscitation, Wróblewski spent three weeks in hospital. As the doctor admitted, these were “the three worst weeks she has ever experienced.” Tomasz Wróblewski died on November 7, 2021, less than a month after his wedding to Dorota Sumińska.
