The seventh edition of the cycle Cinema and Science aims to introduce the public to the deepest scientific dilemmas. To this end, it will screen ten films between January 11 and March 23 in Vitoria (Artium), San Sebastián (Tabakalera), Bilbao (Bizkaia Aretoa-Sala Mitxelena of the UPV/EHU), Pamplona (Cines Golem Baiona) and Donibane Lohizune (Cinéma Le Sélect), starting with Oppenheimer and ending with Theater of Thought, by German filmmaker Werner Herzog.

In support of the projections, different science experts (Pedro Miguel Etxenike, Maia Garcia-Vergniory, Juan Ignacio Perez Iglesias, Onintze Salazar…) will dialogue with the public about the atomic bomb, artificial intelligence, the aging of the population and other themes proposed by the films.

The series will begin tomorrow, Thursday, with the screening in Vitoria and San Sebastián (January 13 in Bilbao and 16 in Pamplona) of ‘Oppenheimer’, a film that allows us to learn about the history of the creation of the atomic bomb and the dilemmas it raised. his discovery. It will be followed by ‘Semmelweis’ (André de Toth, 1940), ‘Plan 75’, ‘Bombshell: the story of Hedy Lamarr’ (Alexandra Dean, 2017), ‘Out of Africa’ (Sydney Pollack, 1985), ‘The Beast of my girl’, ‘Silent Time’ by Vicente Aranda, ‘The Perfect Storm’ by Wolfgang Petersen, ‘Mars Express’ by Jérémie Périn and ‘Theater of Thought’ by Werner Herzog.

The program will be screened in its entirety in San Sebastián, Bilbao, Vitoria and Pamplona, ​​while Donibane Lohizune will be able to see La vie du Dr. Semmelweis, Out of Africa, Mars Express, L’Imposible Mr. Bébé and Oppenheimer, all of them in French or with subtitles in that language.

Tickets can be purchased on the websites and at the ticket offices of Tabakalera, Artium Museoa, the Museum of Fine Arts of Bilbao (the sessions travel to Bizkaia Aretoa for the works in the art gallery) and the Le Sélect and Golem cinemas. -Baiona at a price between 3.50 and 6 euros.
