He Cadiz Carnival began this Tuesday with the first session of the preliminary phase of the Official Competition of Carnival Groups, which is held at the Gran Teatro Falla, and which will conclude on Friday, February 9 with the Grand finalebefore giving way to what is known as street carnival.

This Thursday, January 11, the third preliminary session of the COAC takes place, in an earlier edition than others: this year, the Carvaval, which is a holiday that is set on the agenda depending on Holy Week, is earlier compared to others and the big days coincide in the second week of February. Today five groups of the 109 participating this year take the stage to fill the theater with color and music. Specifically, three chirigotas, two troupes and a choir participate. In addition, this Thursday’s session has a seed, that is, one of the groups that made it to the semifinals in 2023.

‘The black sheep’, Martínez Ares’ troupewhich in 2023 was the troupe called ‘The invisible city’, is one of the leading groups this Thursday, but there will be other choirs, chirigotas and troupes participating in this third session.
