Former England football coach Eriksson diagnosed with cancer
Former England head coach Swede Sven-Göran Eriksson has been diagnosed with cancer. Sky Sports reports this with reference to P1 radio.
“Everyone understands that I have a very serious illness. Many people guess that it is cancer, and this is true. At best, I have a year to live, at worst, a little less,” said the 75-year-old ex-coach, emphasizing that he will fight. He said that he learned about the disease after he fainted while jogging.
Eriksson’s last place of work was the Swedish Karlstad. He served as athletic director until February 2023, when he left the post due to health problems.
During his coaching career, Eriksson worked in the Swedish Gothenburg, the Portuguese Benfica, the Italian Roma, Lazio and Sampdoria, as well as the English Leicester and Manchester City. In addition, the specialist led the teams of England, Cote d’Ivoire and the Philippines.
