The political situation in Poland continues to surprise, which television stations willingly use to increase the viewership of their programs. Group is joining this group, which is launching a new information and journalistic channel, which will broadcast straight from the parliamentary chamber, but not only. What else will viewers see on air?
Polsat launches a new news channel. When will it debut on air?
According to the portal, in December 2023, the National Broadcasting Council gave consent to change the name of the channel Wydarzenia 24 to Polsat News Polityka, and also W24 to Events 24. The first channel will broadcast almost exclusively on paid operators, while the second one will join the first multiplex digital terrestrial television, taking the place of ABC, which was taken off the air some time ago.
Despite the positive consideration of the application, the launch of the channel was delayed. This was due to the documentation, the approval of which by all broadcasters was necessary to complete formalities between Polsat and the Office of Electronic Communications. The process was completed successfully and on January 10, 2024, Polsat News Polityka will premiere both on cable networks and on digital platforms, including Polsat Box and Canal+.
What can we find in the Polsat News Polityka offer? Broadcasts from the Sejm hall are not everything
The new Polsat news channel was created with record-breaking viewership broadcasts of the Polish Parliament sessions in mind. – This is the part of the television offer that viewers want and need here and now, on an ongoing basis, directly and live. We see an increase in interest in politics and news journalism – Piotr Witwicki, Director of the Information and Journalism Division of Polsat Television. The Polsat News Polityka schedule will mainly focus on meetings and the Senate. Viewers will also be able to follow issues discussed by parliamentary and investigative committees on an ongoing basis. The offer will be complemented by numerous journalistic programs, including the afternoon format “Studio Parliament” and the evening “Political Debate”. – Society’s awareness of how the state functions and civil society is created is growing. We respond to these trends by investing in the development of our offer of news channels – adds Witwicki.
Many wonder whether the change of the broadcasting multiplex will also affect the transformation of the Events 24 formula. However, these will not change and will still present news services, sports events, weather forecasts and social media reviews. However, the offer will be limited to journalistic programs, as well as broadcasts of events and conferences, which will be the domain of the newly created channel.
