Clark Gable came a long way before becoming a star. The actor, born in 1901, was raised by his father, but his mother died during childbirth. He waited patiently for his moment, which came only in 1932. Gable then starred in “The Last Mile”, thanks to which he gained recognition from film critics. Later, he received a role in the cult “Gone with the Wind”, which opened the door to a great career for him.
Clark Gable appeared in 60 films, and he also had affairs with many women. The only 23-year-old actor married an acting teacher, the previously mentioned Josephine Dillon, who was 17 years his senior. The couple moved in together, but their marriage did not last long. Clark Gable met the wealthy Maria “Ria” Franklin, who, like the actor’s wife, was also older than him. Maria and Clark got married, although many people said that the Hollywood star opposed the decision. The bride allegedly blackmailed him with information about his numerous affairs.
Gable’s second marriage also did not stand the test of time. After some time, the actor married Carole Lombard, but she died in an accident shortly thereafter. Clark, in turn, retired from acting and joined the US Air Force. He was later married twice more. First he started a relationship with Sylvia Ashley, then with Kay± Spreckles, with whom he remained until her death in 1960.
