PCM once again creates a commission to fight against illegal mining

The Peruvian Government also ordered the merger of the multisector commissions created by Supreme Decree 075-2012-PCM and Supreme Decree 005-2023-PCM, designed with similar purposes. One dates from the Ollanta Humala government, the other is from Dina Boluarte.

The Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) ordered the creation of a “Multi-sector Commission of a permanent nature with the objective of monitoring mining formalization and actions aimed at the eradication of illegal mining and the recovery of the environment.”

Through Supreme Decree No. 143-2023-PCM, the Peruvian Government also provides for the merger of the Multisectoral Commissions created by Supreme Decree No. 075-2012-PCM and Supreme Decree No. 005-2023-PCM.

The team, formed after the murder of Poderoza mining workers, in Pataz, on December 3, will be chaired by the premier, and will have the support of the ministers of Defense, Economy, Interior, Agriculture, Energy and Mines, Labor , Environment, and Foreign Relations.

The heads of Sunat and Sunarp, the head of the National Assembly of Regional Governments (ANGR), the Prosecutor of the Nation, and the president of the Judiciary will also participate. All positions are ad honorem.

Regarding the merger of the commissions formed by supreme decrees 075-2012-PCM and 005-2023-PCM, the first is a permanent group against illegal mining created during the Ollanta Humala government.

The second was a team formed in January 2023, led by President Dina Boluarte, to promote formal mining in Madre de Dios, Ucayali and Puno. None worked.
