After Christmas, many people will undoubtedly wonder what to do with the excess carp. There is a tasty and simple solution to prepare a delicious appetizer from fish.

Carp is a fish that most of us undoubtedly associate with the traditional Christmas Eve and Christmas holidays. You can prepare many interesting, original and modern dishes using it. However, the most popular form of preparing carp is still in the form of fried carp.

Carp, which is a must on the Christmas Eve table in many homes, can be prepared traditionally, as fried carp, but also in other forms, e.g. Jewish style or in jelly. During the Christmas holidays, many of us realize that we bought too much carp or did not use all of it. You can use excess fish to prepare an easy and tasty appetizer for after the holidays or on New Year’s Eve. It is about carp in vinegar marinade, which will conquer the taste buds of people who do not like its fatty version. You will need:

  • 4 cups of water,
  • 1.5 cups of vinegar,
  • 2 onions,
  • 4 bay leaves,
  • 6 grains of allspice,
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar,
  • half a tablespoon of salt.

In order not to waste the fish if you bought too much of it, carp in brine. The proportions of vinegar, water and sugar can be changed depending on your preferences and how strongly you like the vinegar flavor. Prepare the vinegar marinade, step by step, and then proceed to make the appetizers:

  1. Cut the onion into slices and throw it into the pot.
  2. Add the allspice and bay leaves, then pour in the vinegar and water.
  3. Season with sugar and salt, then bring to a boil.
  4. Clean the carp thoroughly and divide into pieces.
  5. Sprinkle with salt and pepper on both sides.
  6. Heat the oil in a pan. Coat the fish in flour and fry until golden brown.
  7. After frying, place them on a paper towel to remove excess fat.
  8. Place the fish in jars and pour in the liquid, then put the lids on and set aside to cool.
