Activists joined forces. They showed the worst “hate strips” from “Wiadomości” in front of the TVP headquarters

The action was attended by representatives of such social organizations as: GrowSPACE Foundation, Democracy Action, Women’s Congress, Student Action, Olsztyn Equality March, Impuls Foundation. At 8:00 they gathered in front of the TVP headquarters in Warsaw at Woronicza Street to remind everyone of the methods used by the creators of TVP’s “Wiadomości” which, in their opinion, can be classified as hate speech.

“Hate strips” on public television have become history. But unfortunately there is something to mention

During the press conference, they had printed frames from the flagship television news program TVP1, where they can see announcements of materials, i.e. the so-called strips, which in recent years have often been biased and targeted specific social groups that were not favorable to the rule of the United Right.

In its message, Public Television attacked many social groups and institutions that were not favorable to one political option. Those attacked included the LGBTQ+ community, people participating in the Women’s Strikes, the European Union, the opposition, teachers, and even young doctors, said Dominik Kuc from the GrowSPACE Foundation, which initiated the entire action.

– Today, these strips are a summary of what TVP has looked like in recent years, but they should also be a warning that no political option will ever again politicize the media. In the public space, we hear statements from PiS politicians about defending democracy and free media, but they are hypocritical for society when at the same time we see MP Lichocka in the TVP control room, adds Kuc.

Each social organization presented one of the “Hate Strips”, with which its representatives appeared in front of the TVP headquarters.
