Ludwik Pak was born on March 20, 1930 in the village of Jasionna near Kielce. He was also buried there. He had a younger daughter, Maria, and a brother, Czesław. When he was only nine years old, he was predicted to pursue an acting career. He graduated from drama school in Lublin and later passed his high school final exams. Then he studied at the State Theater School in Warsaw. Not everyone knows that he had the chance to play two iconic roles in the series “Alternatives 4”. However, his plans were thwarted by addiction.
A great career awaited him. However, Ludwik Pak was unable to cope with his addiction
– He was a wonderful man, very talented, liked by everyone. Such a soul man. He was not ashamed of the fact that he came from a small village near Kielce. I visited him in Warsaw many times, I visited him in his dormitory, and also when he lived at ul. Świerczewski. I had the opportunity to meet many of his actor colleagues, and I often had the opportunity to drink vodka with many of them. I met, among others, the Damięcki brothers, Ignacy Gogolewski, Piotr Fronczewski, Edmund Fetting, Daniel Olbrychski and Stanisława Celińska and many others. (…) I was and am proud of him – recalled Czesław Pak, Ludwik’s brother, in one of them. Despite many successes and many career offers, it turned out that the actor was struggling with alcohol addiction. The disease affected his physical appearance, including changing and aging his facial features.
He was supposed to play Stanisław Angel. However, addiction thwarted the plans
in the cult film “Miś”, Pak was offered to play Stanisław Angel in “Alternatives 4”. However, as is widely known, the character was ultimately played by Roman Wilhelmi. Not everyone knows that the first photos have already been taken, but Pak fell into the ground after receiving the advance payment. So it was decided that he could not be counted on and as a result he lost his role. Later, the actor got a second chance and was to play Józef Balcerek in the same production, but the situation repeated itself. So the role was entrusted. In the last years of his life, Ludwik Pak lived in the Veteran Actor’s Home in Skolimów. He died on December 7, 1988 in Warsaw at the age of 58.
