A breakthrough period for millennium problems was the years 2002-2003, when evidence of the correctness of one of the theses included in them appeared on the Internet. We are talking about the Pincaré hypothesis formulated in 1904. What did it sound like?

Its correctness was proven by the introverted Grigory Perelman, a Russian mathematician and former professor at the Steklov Institute in Saint Petersburg. The world of science first heard about him over 20 years earlier, when, as a teenager, he not only won the International Mathematical Olympiad in Budapest, but also collected all the points. He became interested in PincarĂ©’s hypothesis in 1993, and his work was verified and recognized in 2006. He then received a medal and PLN 15,000. Canadian dollars, which he did not accept. In turn, 4 years later, the promised million dollars was to be transferred to his account. However, the mathematician gave up on them. He avoided the media hype, and soon after he abandoned his scientific work.

What stage are the remaining millennium problems? The first one is over 200 years old

Six of the seven are still unproven or solved. In three cases, the merits of the case were not even approached, and three others were partially resolved. It is worth knowing that the first theses, the Navier-Stokes equation, was created in 1822. This means that it has been waiting to be solved for over 200 years.
