Despite the fact that the entire TVP crew has been trying to block the announced changes in public media for weeks, a real revolution may happen within a few days. As reported by the portal, the first personnel changes were to start on Friday, December 15, but the head of TVP, Mateusz Matyszkowicz, appointed a proxy of the company, i.e. a person who was granted a special power of attorney.
He did this because the new Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz, cannot suspend such a person. Despite this, lawyers point out that such actions can only delay the actions of the new government, and not effectively hinder them. Specialists say that one solution may be to appoint a trustee of the company, who has more power than the proxy appointed by Matyszkowicz.

For many weeks, there have been discussions about changing the names of the main brands of news programs, which many people associate only with pro-party propaganda after eight years of rule by the United Right. The most talked about news is “Wiadomości”, which, according to several sources, is to be managed by the current reporter of “Fakty” TVN, Paweł Płuska. Also, according to the portal’s sources, the name of the daily and its formula are to change, and work on the graphic design has been going on for two months.
In addition, the website’s interlocutors also talk about changes in TVP Info, which during the rule of Law and Justice turned into a station providing information in a sensational way and openly supporting the United Right camp. Two of the portal’s sources indicated that the station would change its name to TVP24. In turn, one of the people responsible for recruitment for the new public media indicated that she did not know anything about it, but confirmed that discussions about new names were underway.
Let us recall that at the end of October, Juliusz Braun, who was the president of Telewizja Polska in 2011-2015, spoke about changes in public media brands. He pointed out that the new name of the news station should be short, but clearly indicated that TVP24 was not the best idea.
It should not be – in my opinion – TVP24 so as not to suggest that it is either a mutation or a counterweight to TVN24, I also do not like the use of the English word ‘news’. The name must definitely be short. The dictionary of synonyms suggests ‘news’ or ‘news’, but that’s probably not it [ze względu na zbieżność nazw z rosyjskim portalem propagandowym i tytułem należącym do Polska Press – przyp. red.] – said Braun.
One of OKO.press’s interlocutors also talks about a possible change of the name of TAI, i.e. the Television Information Agency, which is responsible for the information and journalism department at Telewizja Polska. He assessed it as “a repetition of the trick that PiS pulled in 2006.” However, the portal’s editors did not find confirmation of this in any of their sources.
