The JustWatch website, which monitors VOD trends also in Poland, summarized 2023 and provided the most popular series and films that we watched in recent months. When it comes to episodic productions, the first place was taken by “Wednesday” – a great Netflix hit from 2022, which conquered not only streaming, but also trends on TikTok.

Second place is a new one – “The Last of Us”. The series based on the game from Naughty Dog was on almost everyone’s lips in early 2023. Critics called the work the best video game adaptation in the history of cinema. Each episode of the series sparked long discussions online, and Pedro Pascal, thanks to the role of Joel, became one of the most sought-after actors in recent years.
“Friends” closes the podium. The series is a classic that we eagerly return to even after many years. Although not every plot of the series is perceived in the same way today, and some jokes are no longer as funny as they used to be, the sentiment towards the characters and the warmth emanating from the screen during the screening means that the production still evokes mainly positive emotions. The increased interest in the series this year could also be due to the tragic news that spread around the world at the end of October. Then Matthew Perry, who played the role of Chandler Bing, died.

The remaining places on the list of the most popular series in Poland in 2023 were taken by “The Witcher”, “The Mandalorian” from the Star Wars universe, “This Summer I Became Beautiful”, “Succession”, “One Piece”, “From There” and “The “Bear”.
When it comes to the “number one” film of the above-mentioned list, there were no surprises either. The blockbuster “Avatar: Water Creature” did equally well against streaming competition and took first place. Poles also eagerly watched “John Wick 4” with Keanu Reeves, and the podium was closed by the animation “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish”, which received great reviews from critics after its cinema premiere.
The list of the most popular films of 2023 watched by Poles in streaming also includes the Marvel hit – “Guardians of the Galaxy 3”, “The Whale”, “Top Gun: Maverick”, “The Elements Between Us”, “The Nun II”, “Meg 2: The Deep”. ” and “M3GAN”.
