I don’t think anyone expected that a joke about watching a movie at the cinema would turn into an educational project. However, the unusual idea of the satirist and weekly “Nie”, Michał Marszał, was implemented by the Warsaw Kinoteka, organizing broadcasts straight from the Polish Parliament. What is known about the event?
Sejm sessions in the cinema? Tickets to the event were gone in the blink of an eye
As they inform, on December 8, 2023, the Sejm Information Center granted consent to broadcast the sessions on a large screen. However, the interest exceeded the wildest expectations of Kinoteka, which undertook the organization of the event, as the free tickets disappeared in just 8 minutes. Therefore, it was decided to allocate two rooms for this purpose, one of which will broadcast live until the very end, which may even happen late at night.
But that’s not the end of the surprises. It turns out that, contrary to previous arrangements, this will not be a one-off, but a cyclical action. According to Karolina Fornal from Kinoteka’s marketing and distribution department, according to preliminary decisions, the first broadcasts will start on December 11, 2023 and will continue until January 10, 2024. – They will be held under the slogan: “The Parliament in the cinema: an educational and civic project” – she informed the portal, adding that on Monday alone, as many as 578 people will sit in cinema halls.

It cannot be denied that broadcasts of the sessions of the Sejm, headed by , have become a real phenomenon among Internet users in recent weeks, which is reported not only by Polish but also foreign media. After Michał Marszał’s speech on TVN24, which promoted the project of the Warsaw Kinoteka, the topic was also picked up by the British, calling it “Sejmflix”.
Soon, this latest must-watch series will also hit the big screen. The interest in following the key events of the upcoming week is so great that one of Warsaw’s main cinemas, Kinoteka, will show them in their entirety, offering popcorn politics
– wrote correspondent Sarah Rainsford in her article. This will be a particularly historic moment in the country’s history, because Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki’s exposé is fast approaching, followed by a vote of confidence in the two-week government he formed. It is worth mentioning that the proceedings are also broadcast on the Sejm’s YouTube channel, and their viewership is increasing day by day.
