A popular cartoon targeted by the Russian authorities. From now on, only adults can watch it

The popular cartoon “My Little Pony” has been deemed dangerous for children and from now on only adults can watch it. All because of one of the heroes who has… a rainbow tail and mane.

As for the absurdity of the actions, I don’t think anyone has any doubts anymore. Surely many of you watched “My Little Pony” as a child. Its characters have gained enormous popularity around the world, which has not diminished for almost four decades. However, the Russian authorities decided that the innocent cartoon about the adventures of colorful ponies poses a threat to underage viewers. Why?

Children in Russia will not watch this cartoon. The reason is the appearance of one of the characters

Just before the March elections, Vladimir Putin submitted a request to outlaw LGBTQ+ in Russia, which was also supported by the Supreme Court. The justification explained that it was an “extremist organization” whose activities harm society. Since then, a real campaign has begun, which did not spare even the American one, which has been popular since the 1980s.

Although throughout the West, “My Little Pony” can be watched by children from the age of 5, in Russia it is reserved only for adult viewers. It’s all because of one of the characters, Rainbow Dash, who has a mane and tail in rainbow colors, which, according to the authorities, is a reference to the symbolism of the movement banned in the country. But that’s not the end.

Russian propaganda is in full swing. LGBTQ+ has become a public enemy

It is no secret that Russia particularly persecutes LGBT people. The ban on “homosexual propaganda” among minors, introduced over 10 years ago, was only the beginning of the authorities’ irrational actions and decisions. It would seem that the law passed in 2022, according to which there is a general ban on the promotion of non-traditional sexual relations, includes, among others, advertisements, films and TV series are the height of curiosity, but not in Russia. The campaign intensified immediately after the decision issued by the Supreme Court. At that time, the targets included, among others: clubs, mainly those for non-heterosexual people, where a series of brutal searches and attacks were carried out.
