In winter, Poles forget about it a lot. And this year the fines are extremely high

Winter is a beautiful time. We go sledding and ice skating, throw snowballs at each other or build a snowman. Snow covers the cities, making all the lights reflect beautifully. However, apart from these pleasures, many people are waiting for a real winter adventure. Car owners know this very well.

Not everyone is a fan of winter. It’s cold, dark, slippery and basically difficult to get anywhere. It’s all because of the snow that is covering the streets, sidewalks and cars in droves. Walking can be tiring, as is getting to the vehicle, because first you have to clear the driveway and then the car itself. And here there is a problem.

Clearing snow from your car – it can be a big hit to your pocket

Clearing snow from your car is a real winter nightmare for many people. We want to get somewhere quickly, but we still have a good 10-15 minutes of shoveling snow ahead of us. Then some more scraping of windows, because it’s finally frosty. All this in sub-zero temperatures, sometimes accompanied by white flakes falling from the sky straight onto the face, into the eyes and behind the collar. Well, it’s a fairy tale, right? All this means that clearing snow from the car is often done poorly.

Many people commit this winter sin. Our safety and that of other road users is at stake. You’ve probably been behind a car with snow literally covering your window more than once. We don’t need to tell you how dangerous this can be. Additionally, if you don’t clear the snow from your car, you may have to pay really dearly. This year, the fine rate has increased significantly. Until 2022, we could pay PLN 500 for this offense. Now up to PLN 3,000!

Are you not clearing snow from your car properly? Even more fines

It is obvious that it is not enough to wipe the windshield to avoid a fine. The car should be thoroughly cleared of snow. But there is one place that we constantly forget about. It often happens that snow sticks to license plates. We should definitely remove it. Driving with a covered registration number may cost you PLN 100.

We often remove snow from the car after starting the engine. Thanks to this, the car heats up faster, making it easier to get rid of snow and ice, and after a session of snow removal in frost, we can get into a warm interior. This is also not allowed. The car can be started while stationary for just one minute. So if it doesn’t take you several dozen seconds to get rid of the snow, it’s better to start the car before you leave. Otherwise, we may face a fine of PLN 100.
