They disappeared for good in October, around the parliamentary elections. . Problems in communication between Polsat and cabaret groups led to a flood of statements from the latter. Ultimately, the satirical performances lost their place in the schedule and there is no indication that the artists and Polsat intend to cooperate again.
An old proverb says that when two fight, the third benefits. In this case, a third entity entered the game – Telewizja WP.
Cabarets return to television – Telewizja WP
After Polsat removed cabarets from its schedule without any explanation, the cabaret groups declared that their adventure with Polsat was also over. Only the provisions of the contract were fulfilled: the artists completed recordings for their performances, which were later to be broadcast on Polsat. The recordings were made but there was no broadcast.
In this situation, Telewizja WP stepped in all in white and wants a cabaret market share. Programs with artists’ performances enjoy unflagging popularity in Poland – Polsat lost a large part of the audience by removing cabarets from Sunday evenings (on average, they were watched by up to one and a half million viewers!). Telewizja WP took this piece of the cake and will show the next premiere episodes of “Mistrzów Cabaret” at the beginning of next year – in February.
Telewizja WP is not the only one keen on Polsat’s inheritance
Cabarets have also made their home on Zoom TV. From the beginning of November, you can watch cabarets on Sunday evenings on this station. They have an advantage over the Polsat band in that they are much longer – they not only start around 7 p.m., but also end after 11 p.m. (for comparison, Polsat showed the “Młodzi i Moralni” cabaret from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.).
