While working on “The Diplodocus Dragon”, director Wojtek Wawszczyk, together with the Human Film studio, took on the great challenge of creating an adventure and comedy film for the whole family. They managed to create a quality of film animation that would make the largest US studios proud. “The Diplodocus Dragon” is a manifesto of the great power of imagination and faith in one’s own abilities.

“I learned to draw by copying characters from Tadeusz Baranowski’s timeless comics on paper. This film is a dialogue with my childhood – with Tadeusz’s comics, which awakened the screenwriter in me, and also with Pixar films, which shaped me as a director,” says Wojtek Wawszczyk, director and screenwriter of the film “Dragon Diplodok”, artistic director of the Human Film studio and co-creator of the hit “Jeż Jerzy”.

What is the movie “Diplodocus Dragon” about?

The adventurous Diplodocus dreams of adding a bit of color to life. It’s gray and boring in the family swamp. When the peaceful life is interrupted by the appearance of a mysterious fog, Diplodocus sets off on an unforgettable journey to find his missing family and restore the lost order. He visits magical places, meets strange creatures and meets incredible inhabitants of the strangest worlds. Together with the clumsy wizard Hocus Pocus, the crazy Professor Nerwosolek and the smart pilot Entomology, they will discover a big secret. Together, they will discover that their reality is actually… a page in a comic book by Tadek, an artist who is in a creative crisis. They will try to save Diplodocus’ parents and solve the mystery of the insidious fog.

The heroes and heroines of “The Diplodocus Dragon” will be voiced by the biggest Polish stars – including Małgorzata Kożuchowska (Entomology), Borys Szyc (Hokus Pokus) and Arkadiusz Jakubik (Profesorek Nerwosolek). The titular Diplodocus will speak with the voice of Mikołaj Wachowski – a 10-year-old actor who is taking Warsaw’s theater scenes and the world of dubbing by storm. Piotr Polak and Helena Englert, beloved by Polish audiences, will also appear in surprising roles.

A year before its premiere, the Polish “Diplodocus Dragon” has already been sold to over 100 countries, including Great Britain, Spain, Scandinavia, the Benelux countries, and Korea. It will hit Polish cinemas in the fall of 2024.
