Real estate tax is a fee whose amount is determined individually by cities and communes. However, they cannot introduce their own rates, but are based on the ranges prepared by the Ministry of Finance. They do not have to impose maximum suggested fees, but they have the right to do so. The amount charged on real estate depends on the rates proposed by the Ministry of Finance, but it must be related to the level of inflation. In 2023, it was as much as 15 percent, so the maximum amount of the real estate tax fee may also increase by this percentage. This is the largest increase in 25 years. How much will it be exactly?
The tax set for 2024 will amount to PLN 1.34 per 1 square meter of area in the case of land related to running a business. However, the tax on buildings or their parts (residential) may amount to a maximum of PLN 1.15 per square meter of usable area. or PLN 33.10 per square meter of usable area, if this applies to residential buildings or parts thereof intended for business purposes.
When do you have to pay real estate tax? Appropriate deadlines are set
At this point, it is already known that several large cities have introduced the maximum real estate tax. These include Gdańsk, Lublin and Katowice. However, this increase will not be applied everywhere. It turns out that fees in 2024 in Mysłowice will not be that high. Tax rates on land related to running a business will increase by PLN 11 per square meter. However, fees for residential buildings will increase by PLN 12 per square meter.
It is also worth remembering the deadlines for payment. Individuals pay real estate tax in four installments. They fall on the 15th of March, May, September and November. However, please remember that if the amount does not exceed PLN 100, the tax will not be divided into installments and must be paid in full by March 15.
