Rafa³ Brzozowski warns. “I wasn’t arrested, I was handcuffed, it was a photomontage”

Rafa³ Brzozowski has been dealing with the plague of fake accounts created under his name and surname for some time now. In this way, fraudsters try to extort money from the singer’s fans.

is very popular not only thanks to its programs and appearances on TVP. The singer has a huge group of committed fans who follow his activities. However, in his latest post on social media, the journalist warns against a less sophisticated but very effective fraud.

Rafał Brzozowski warns against fraudsters impersonating him

Rafał Brzozowski’s official social media accounts have published recordings of the singer in which he warns against fraudsters impersonating him. There are plenty of “Rafał Brzozowskis” in various places on the Internet – on Instagram, on Facebook – and many of these accounts are fake accounts, created solely to make money from unaware fans of a real journalist. Brzozowski is aware of this, but he also knows that there is little that can be done about it:

Yes, they impersonate, they extort money, they just want to cheat you, they are thieves who need to be hunted down. It is very difficult, because these are servers from China, from Africa, from some strange countries, and yet people keep falling for them.

I would like to ask you to watch who you are writing to. I don’t know why, but several or a dozen fake profiles are created every day impersonating me. What’s more, they want money from you and ask for a private meeting. If someone pays money, they are supposed to arrange a private meeting with me. This is a scam, it is something you should block and report to the services responsible for it. Only my verified profile is a source of information.

The musician’s fans reacted in the comments. It turns out that the scale of the problem is really large. These are not individual fake accounts. Women write about numerous “Rafał Brzozowskis” sending private messages or invitations to their circle of friends. “I must have had ten of them!”, “Thank you for the warning, I’ve also received an invitation three times,” “Someone wrote to me pretending to be you!”

The singer’s image is also used in illegal and false advertisements for cryptocurrencies and money investment portals. Some of the fake “Brzozowski” shows him in handcuffs moments after his arrest, which is not true. “I was not arrested, handcuffed or detained by the police – the photos with my image are a photomontage used by fraudsters to promote a website related to extorting money,” Brzozowski wrote in the post.

I would like to deny this – I have never in my life recommended any portal that would encourage financial investments. The website that posted my photos are thieves and fraudsters. My image was stolen, I was edited, alleged interviews, you see a montage of me in handcuffs, these are fraudsters, servers in China, American portal, nothing can be done about it. I can only report it to the prosecutor’s office and declare that I am an absolutely free man and happy that everything is fine with me. Dear friends, these are thieves, fraudsters, I am warning you all against this, be vigilant – he appealed.

Rafał Brzozowski is not the only one who has problems with fraudsters

“Famous person fraud” has been an increasingly popular method of extorting money from fans who are not always aware in recent years. Many famous people have fallen victim to image theft – either for false online advertising or deliberate fraud, such as Rafał Brzozowski. Barbara Kurdej-Szatan, Katarzyna Bosacka and Dorota Szelągowska have talked about it many times. Their faces appeared in advertisements for slimming products and financial investments.
