Polish viewers loved Zofia Czerwińska for her role as Mrs. Balcerkowa in the series “Alternatives 4” and Zofia Nowosielska in “The 40-Year-Old”. The actress has played on stage throughout her career and has also been seen on the big and small screens. She died at the age of 85 in 2019 after spine surgery.
Mariusz Szczygieł visited the grave of Zofia Czerwińska. He recorded the visit and published it on Instagram
The artist was buried at the Northern Municipal Cemetery in Warsaw. The actress’ grave is visited by her fans and loved ones. For years, the actress was friends with, among others, a famous Polish writer. The reporter visits the actress’s grave and documented one of his last visits.
A recording appeared on Szczyg³’s social media in which the writer draws attention to one of the things left on the tombstone. It was about artificial flowers. “These artificial flowers are of course not from me, but I understand those people who want to leave something of themselves to Zosia Czerwińska, but they know that natural flowers will be stolen. What can I do? Although I am against plastic,” Szczygieł emphasizes.
The goldfinch is against artificial flowers: It’s not from me
Real pink roses will bloom at the grave soon, because that’s what the actress wanted. The writer noted that he would prefer there were no flowers on the grave, but he knows that the person who placed them on the grave did it from the heart. At the same time, he also noticed that Czerwińska liked plastic and trash. “It also came from the fact that in the late 1950s or 1960s, when Zosia was young, this plastic was a revelation. It was something completely new. Something modern. Suddenly plastic turned out to be so easy, universal, handy, so I understand this love for plastic. Especially since it is older people who bring these flowers,” comments Szczygieł.
There was a discussion about artificial plants in the comments under the post. Commenters note that plastic flowers are more durable and cheaper than the live, but short-lived option. A solution was quickly found for this too. The comments suggested leaving dried bouquets and flower arrangements on graves.
