We should pay due attention to how we behave in a public transport vehicle, primarily because, by definition, we are not traveling in it alone. We are surrounded by other passengers who also have the right to their comfort zone. We should also be able to equally use the infrastructure inside the vehicle, i.e. backrests, handrails, seats, etc. Topics regularly discussed on various forums include, for example, sitting on two chairs at the same time, occupying seats designated for people with disabilities or “taking “passenger seats using handbags and backpacks – thus preventing other passengers from using the free seat.
A TikToker decided to draw attention to this issue. The girl running the account under the name @kkatarynaa discreetly recorded a man sitting in a tram, without showing the passenger’s face. In the short recording she published, we see a man sitting on one of the seats resting his shoe on a seat that could be occupied by another person. Moreover, he consumes alcohol on public transport, which is a violation of the law. Pursuant to the Act on Upbringing in Sobriety and Counteracting Alcoholism, it is prohibited to sell, serve and consume alcoholic beverages in public transport means and facilities.
“Why are men like this?” – this is how she signed the recording. The video gained over one and a half thousand likes and nearly two thousand comments. Under the recording, a discussion broke out about the worst behavior of public transport passengers, and Internet users began to share their own experiences and observations.
Internet users were outraged by the man’s behavior on the tram. “Typical alpha male”
Many of them were clearly outraged by the passenger’s behavior. “But it irritated me”, “typical alpha male”, “They think they are entitled to everything” – we read in the comments. “But breastfeeding and using sanitary pads in a public toilet is too much for them,” another person notes.
Still with a beer in a public place
I once encountered a similar case on a bus, so I sat opposite him on purpose and spread my legs across half the aisle, just like him. His face was priceless
Funfact: if you approach someone and ask if they sit like this at home, 99% of the time they will get embarrassed and pull their legs
– we read in selected comments.
“I’ve seen women do that too.”
Some pointed out that both men and women behave this way.
I’ve seen women do this too, but they try not to put their shoes on the seat
I’ve seen enough women behaving the same way and opening alcohol on the bus. Some people just don’t care if they bother others
– wrote Internet users.
“They act as if everyone is interested in what they think.”
We asked our readers and residents of Warsaw what undesirable behaviors we most often encounter on buses, trams and other means of transport. The answers varied greatly.
– Probably the loudest conversations for me. People sometimes behave as if everyone was interested in their thoughts and experiences, says 30-year-old Natalia. – Standing at the door, where half of the bus is empty. Then squeeze through this crowd. And besides, loud comments made by others irritate me, says Ola from a town near Warsaw.
– For example: “And this one didn’t give up his seat.” Maybe he didn’t notice, maybe he doesn’t feel well, maybe there are a thousand places further away, so just go a little further! “This guy packs his bike here, it’s so tight here” – it doesn’t matter that this is a place intended for bicycles and the guy was riding from the suburbs to the metro and by metro to work. Not everyone drives just for pleasure, some use it as a means of transport – notes our interlocutor.
“A woman with a stroller enters and they stand there and pretend not to see her.”
Wiktoria, on the other hand, states it bluntly: in her opinion, the worst thing is “listening to music from a loudspeaker”. She is echoed by 29-year-old Iza: Listening to music without headphones… and when you get tired of shopping and have to sit down – she points out.
And it annoys me when people are indifferent to other passengers, for example when a woman with a stroller enters and they stand there and pretend not to see her, and the same when a mother enters with children (we’re not talking about teenagers, but about 3-4 years old who no longer use wheelchairs) suddenly everything outside the window is more interesting
– adds our interlocutor.
