Christopher Reeve played the role of Superman. He was considered the embodiment of a man who could move mountains. When he had a serious accident, his wife was his greatest support.

Christopher D’Olier Reeve was born in New York in 1952. He was most famous for his role as Superman. He discovered his passion for acting when he joined an amateur theater group in Princeton. He also loved sports, playing baseball, hockey and soccer. He also had a passion for horse riding competitions. And it was his passion for equestrianism that made the actor end up in a wheelchair.

Young Christopher enrolled at the Juilliard School, where he studied theater. He also earned a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University in Ithaca. While studying theater, he met Robin Williams, with whom he remained friends for many years. The beginner played in soap operas. He also appeared on Broadway. In 1977, he was cast in a film that changed his life. Before he played Clark Kent, he trained hard to look good as Superman. The film turned out to be a huge success.

Christopher Reeve had several affairs, including with model Gae Exton, who bore him two children. At the beginning of the 1990s, he met singer Dana Morosini. In 1992, their son, William, was born. Three years after the couple’s wedding, tragedy occurred. Christopher, preparing for one of his film roles, bought a thoroughbred American horse. While riding the animal, he fell and lost consciousness. As a result of the accident, his spinal cord and cervical vertebrae were damaged. He was paralyzed from the neck down and needed a respirator to breathe. “Maybe we should let me go—to my wife.” He stayed in the hospital for almost half a year, and when he returned home, he hired 10 nurses because he required 24-hour care. He took up the fight for disabled people. He allowed doctors to test innovative treatment methods on him. He died in 2004 due to systemic infection in bedsores. He could count on his wife’s great support until the end of his life. Dana Morosini passed away 2 years later. She got lung cancer.
