An outstanding Polish singer has a horrendously low pension. She had to give up giving concerts

Zdzisława So¶nicka is one of the greatest Polish singers who nowadays cannot count on a decent retirement. It turned out that at one point she had such big financial problems that she was forced to give up concerts because the costs of maintaining the band were too high. But now it’s a thing of the past. What has changed in So¶nicka’s life?

78-year-old Zdzisława Sośnicka was one of the biggest stars of the Polish People’s Republic stage. She made her debut as a singer in 1963 at the Soviet Song Festival in Zielona Góra, and also became a finalist of the 2nd Festival of Young Talents in Szczecin. She started her solo career in 1968, previously performing with the bands Tramp and Bizona. In 1971, she achieved success at the Song Festival in Sopot with the song “Dom jest mam”. She won the audience award and third prize in the competition.

Zdzisława Sośnicka stays away from the spotlight

Throughout her career, she has released 15 studio albums, including her latest self-titled album. “Dance Even though the World Burns” premiered in 2015. It was the artist’s return to music after 17 years, and the album was promoted by the title track and the song “Let’s go from here”. Sośnicka also returned to the stage, although she had previously said that she would never sing again.

It happened during the anniversary concerts of Zbigniew Wodecki, whose last tour before his death. Since then, she has distanced herself from public life, which, as she admitted in interviews, was good for her. She has been the happy wife of Jerzy Bajer for 59 years.

The artist’s pension is insufficient. However, Sośnicka found another way to raise money

In one of the interviews for Plejada, the singer revealed that for some time her life was really modest. Although she did not say exactly how much her pension was, she admitted that if she had to live on it, she would not be able to afford even to meet her basic needs. She also revealed that in the past she wanted to take care of her past, but the matter was complicated by ZUS.

I wanted to pay higher contributions than were required to guarantee higher benefits in the future. But ZUS did not allow me to pay more than the amount established by the state, she said.

She revealed other things in an interview for the monthly “Pani”, where she told how she earns money. The 78-year-old singer has found her way in investing. “I started with small amounts of money and took small steps. Then, when I had to really prove myself and invest a lot of money, I did it with a trembling heart. But I even managed to overcome crisis situations,” she said.

According to the information available in the Central Registration and Information on Economic Activity, you can find information that the singer did not retire in 2015, despite the announcement, but founded her own company, which she runs to this day. This means that he still regularly pays contributions to ZUS.
