As reported by the portal, Mrs. Agnieszka from the parish of Divine Mercy in Żary became another consecrated virgin. The church ceremony took place in the sanctuary of Our Lady Queen of Peace in Otyń. It was concelebrated by the auxiliary bishop of the Zielona Góra-Gorzów diocese, Adrian Put.
New consecrated virgin
Mrs. Agnieszka took a vow of chastity. From now on, her life will focus on zealous prayer, penance and doing works of mercy. And as the woman emphasizes, it was a very well-thought-out decision. Photos from the ceremony have already appeared on social media.
– This decision results from my relationship with the Lord Jesus, which I have developed since childhood. It started with reading the Holy Scripture and being delighted with His love. I gradually matured to the fact that my path to closeness with God would not be marriage, but a life of singleness – confessed Mrs. Agnieszka.
More and more virgins consecrated in Poland
As the Catholic Information Agency reported at the beginning of this year, the number of consecrated virgins in our country is growing. Women who have never married or lived openly in a state “contrary to chastity” are allowed for consecration. Currently, there are 398 consecrated virgins living in Poland. For comparison, in December 2021 there were 362 of them and in December 2019 – 322. It is worth mentioning that there are almost the same number of consecrated widows (397) and only one widower.
