Jerzy Hoffman, director of “The Quack” from 1982, went to the pre-premiere screening of the new version of the cult film. After the screening, he commented to Onet, assessing Michał Gazda’s production. The director spoke about the making of the film and the script itself. He didn’t particularly like one of these elements.

, but the pre-premiere show took place a few days earlier. who played one of the main roles in the cult adaptation from 1982. The actor liked the new version of “The Quack”, he even said that the production was made at a world-class level and has a chance to become a hit also abroad.

The director from 1982, who was also present at the pre-premiere screening, had a slightly different opinion. Although the creator praised the way Michał Gazda’s film was made, he did not have a good opinion about the script.

“I shouldn’t speak publicly about it. I don’t want to cause any harm, nor do I want it to look like I’m making fun of him. As a director, I can say that it’s certainly nicely and efficiently made. However, when it comes to the script, it’s absolutely not for me.” – said Jerzy Hoffman in an interview with Onet.

It is worth noting that the new adaptation of “The Quack” is not a faithful reflection of the original. The film will develop side plots that will give the character of Professor Wilczur a completely new tone and character.

Jerzy Hoffman’s career plans

“Onet” also asked Jerzy Hoffman whether he plans to work on a new film. The director denied it, pointing to his age and the accompanying decline in vitality as the reason.

“I am almost 92 years old. I no longer have the mental resilience or physical strength. What I would do would be worse than what I have done so far. I have always made films for the audience, not for myself, because I believe that a film without an audience is dead. I don’t want to disappoint anyone,” added the director.
