Moreover, the opening of the medical field at AKSiM was not without controversy. The medical community is still shocked by the positive decision of the Ministry of Education and Science to launch a course educating future doctors at a Catholic humanities university. The District Medical Chamber has already intervened in this matter once. The idea was to allow students to receive medical education in institutions that are not adapted to this purpose – such as private or humanities universities.
“Wprost” quotes the announcement of the Szczecin branch of the chamber in which we read: “The District Medical Chamber in Szczecin once again draws indignant attention to the curriculum and rules for admitting students to universities that have in recent months obtained accreditations allowing them to study in medical fields.”
These recruitment rules are the subject of further controversy. Well, it turns out that candidates for medical studies at Rydzyk University, along with all the required documents, must also provide… “certificate from the parish priest”.
To study medicine with Rydzyk, you must have a piece of paper from the parish priest. “This is the apogee”
The president of the Szczecin District Medical Chamber, a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology, Michał Bulsa, appealed to the Minister of Education and Science, Przemysław Czarnek, and the Minister of Health, Katarzyna Sójka, on this matter. It calls, among others, to “verify the criteria published by the Academy of Social and Media Culture in Toruń (AKSiM) for the medical field.”
According to Onet – quoting representatives of the Szczecin chamber – so far, Polish medical universities have been famous for the level of education. The recruitment results were determined solely by the candidates’ high school leaving examination results. A certificate from the parish priest is a criterion of worldview, which should not take place in the recruitment process.
The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education and Science discredit medical education, and allowing Rydzyk’s father’s university to educate doctors is an apogee that cannot be explained in a reasonable way
– said Michał Bulsa in an interview with “Puls Medycyny”.
This is no longer a comedy, but a tragedy. To become a doctor trained at Father Rydzyk’s university, you must have a certificate from the parish priest, please note that for ideological reasons, this must be agreed with the institution’s authorities. The study of medicine should take place without the influence of any religion, in accordance with the medical oath, medics should provide help without any differences, such as race, religion, nationality, political views, financial status and others, with the sole aim of their well-being and the respect of patients. Universities with permission to study medicine cannot differentiate candidates based on religion
– she told the Onet portal.
