Camilo was invited to the Latin Grammy school to share with young people who aspire to be musicians

The Colombian singer Camilo is the new guest of Latin Grammy in the Schools, a project of the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation so that young people who aspire to dedicate themselves to music can learn first-hand the secrets and keys of their favorite artists.

“I am an eternal learner and I say it with pride. I am an eternal student and this is a label that I like to wear “, Camilo confessed in a video call with Eph.

This virtual edition of Latin Grammy in Schools, which was prerecorded in November, can be seen this Thursday at 12 noon in Los Angeles (20 hours GMT) on the Latin Grammy YouTube channel.

As part of this educational program, the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation and Ford Motor Company Fund have donated instruments worth $ 40,000 to the Robert Morgan Educational Center and Hialeah Gardens Middle School (both in Florida).

What’s more, the students from both centers participated in a conversation and a question session with Camilo.

The Colombian thus joins a long list of artists who have passed through Latin Grammy in Schools before, among which are Calle 13, Becky G, Karol G, Luis Fonsi, Gente de Zona, Jesse & Joy, Natalia Lafourcade, Thalía or Carlos Vives.

Winner of five Latin Grammys -four of them at the last gala held in November-, Camilo showed his happiness to know that the relief in the music scene is more than guaranteed.

“It fills me with happiness to know that there are opportunities that young people who are dreaming of living in music have the resources to study and have ways to grasp instruments”, he counted.

“I definitely have the certainty that an instrument can change a life. My guitar changed my life and wrote my story “he added.

But he did point out that he was interested in chatting with young people both about the beauty of music and some other not-so-sweet things.

There Camilo spoke of his love for music and creativity, but he also mentioned some “ghosts” that haunt artists such as “creative blockage, silence, lack of attention or criticism.”

However, Camilo hoped to be able to transmit to these new talents in music that inspiration and optimism that have led him to be one of the great figures of Hispanic music at this time.
