The Mercedes plant will suspend production in Vitoria-Gasteiz during the last two weeks of December

In those days, from December 17 to January 3, the date on which it will start, in principle, again, it will “stockpile parts”.

The Mercedes plant in Vitoria-Gasteiz will suspend production during the last two weeks of December to make “stockpile of pieces”, and will start, in principle, again on January 3.

Union sources have explained that, in the production meeting held this Thursday, the Management has communicated that, due to the lack of supply of several pieces, it has been agreed that the last day of work this year will be next Friday, December 17 , working normally until then.

Therefore, the company will stop production from that date. Previously, it had already been agreed that every Saturday in December it was going to stop, under the Employment Regulation File, and now it has been decided to do the same for all the working days of this year that remain from December 17: are on December 20, 21, 22, 23, 27, 28, 29 and 30.

The forecast is that production in the largest plant in the Basque Country, which directly employs some 5,000 people, will resume “predictably” on January 3, although, “as of today, it is not guaranteed”, because uncertainty remains in semiconductor supplies, they have added the same sources.
