For several days now, TVP1’s “News” has been starting with emotional materials from the Italian island of Lampedusa, from where several correspondents broadcast live. Their entries have a clear message intended to scare national media viewers with the supposedly approaching wave of immigrants. The material is also full of cutscenes showing fights among migrants and statements by opposition politicians in the European Parliament, warning against the “disastrous open door policy”.
TVP is a master of turning the tables. They used the festival in Gdynia to boast about other results
It is absurd that TVP has delegated as many as three people to the tiny Italian island, who connect with each other during the program and threaten with an influx of immigrants. Another bizarre situation occurred during Monday’s edition of “Wiadomości”. Immediately after the report from Lampedusa, we connected with the studio and Edyta Lewandowska, who decided to refer to the ongoing film festival in Gdynia.
The Polish Feature Film Festival in Gdynia has started, with 16 films in the Main Competition, including five co-productions of Polish Television – this is how the host announced the material by Waldemar Stankiewicz.
First of all, they were proud of the film entitled “The Saint” by Sebastian Buttny, which tells the true story of the theft of the statue of Saint. Wojciech from the Gniezno cathedral. Mention was also made of “Fin de mundo” by Piotr Dumała, “The Figure” by Robert Gliński, “Kos” by Paweł Maślona, and the already famous “The Pilecki Report” by Krzysztof Łukaszewicz, which is one of the most expensive Polish films in history. – We will soon find out whether these cinema productions will outclass the competition – said an employee of the national media, then used an unexpected analogy.
The television formats of Telewizja Polska, which wins the autumn schedule, have certainly achieved this. On Saturday evening, almost half of the TV viewers chose Polish Television programs. TVP’s missionary offer blew away the competition, said the author of the material.
Later, viewers saw a summary of the weekend viewership of “Wiadomości” TVP1, “Fakty” TVN and “Wydarzeń” Polsat. – These are record results, not recorded by any other television in Poland – we hear. However, Stankiewicz forgot to mention that despite the fact that all three stations are available on free terrestrial television, TVP stations have the largest reach in the country.
There is a lot of controversy surrounding the Gdynia film festival
Tomasz Kolankiewicz, who was dismissed as director of the Gdynia film festival this spring, commented on reports that there were attempts to politically control the Gdynia festival. In an interview with Onet, he mentioned, among others: about the behind-the-scenes of cooperation with the ministry. – It’s not often you hear on the phone: “The Prime Minister asks…” – he said about suggestions that Remigiusz Włast-Matuszak, associated with right-wing media, should take part in the selection of the festival.
Moreover, the Gdynia festival does not include films that were presented in Venice. It’s about “Woman from…” by Małgorzata Szumowska and Michał Englert, and “Zielona border” by Agnieszka Holland, which received the Special Jury Prize there, and which has a large group of haters in Poland. Negative sentiments towards the film are fueled by politicians of the ruling party and the so-called national media. These productions were not submitted this year.
