His mother wanted him to become a soldier, but he pursued his dreams and moved to the entertainment district, where he started organizing events at a very young age. We currently organize major events around the world with renowned artists.
This is Alejandro Altamirano, owner of Star Producciones, who managed to fill the Atahualpa Olympic Stadium at the age of 27. This was accomplished with 34,000 people at the last Urban Fest Old School, a concert that took place on June 3, featuring the greatest exponents of old reggaeton.
However, his career started at the age of 14. His cousin was a DJ at a nightclub in the parish of El Quinche, northeast of Quito. He went undercover to demonstrate his talent with the microphone. The first days were terrible, as he remembered, because he received a lot of boos.

“I suffered a lot in the beginning. You know at fourteen you don’t have the voice to cheer, but I kept trying. I even paid to be entertained by them and later had to charge $200 per hour for each event,” Alejandro said.
Seven years after that experience, he founded Star Producciones. The first event was held in the south of Quito with the urban artist Jhonny Lexus and it immediately catapulted him to the organization that later organized the Urban Fest Old School, at the Atahualpa Olympic Stadium.
“After the pandemic, we held several major events in Quito, Cuenca and Machala. From there, a brand joined us and supported us. When the event took place, I was 26 years old and no other businessman could have filled the stadium like that,” he said.

However, according to him, it is very difficult to belong to the group of businessmen who organize these types of large-scale events and practice the profession from a very young age.
“Managing stress and pressure and trying to maintain peace of mind amid all the chaos that comes with bringing more than 20,000 people to one place is what needs to be done,” he said.
On the day of the concert, heavy rain was the trigger for Alejandro, as he thought for a moment that the event would be postponed.
“My work team was crying, I had never felt such heavy rain in Quito. Look, the stage was moving and the screens were on, but luckily the presentation took place, the tickets were sold and the concert was extended,” Alejandro explained.
When he remembered his childhood, the first thing that came to mind was that he was rebellious. His mother wanted him to be a soldier, but his calling was different. He always tried to excel in his studies so that his mother would be calm, as he grew up only with her and his brother.
“I hardly knew my father, but because my mother cared a lot about working, she didn’t spend much time with us and assigned us places so she could work. I lived there with my uncles in Quinche,” he said.

The graduate in social communication and master in marketing had the opportunity to be in Spain and the Netherlands.
He did this at the head of the organization of the Romeo Santos concert, which is expected to return with performances in Ecuador. It is still being analyzed, but it could also be in the cities of Ambato and Puyo.
Thus, the Quito entertainer who started paying to animate has become a reference for lovers of the show and entrepreneurs in the artistic field. (JO)
