“Quack” 2023 is the third adaptation of the cult novel. The first one was established over 85 years ago
directed by the director, it has been one of the most outstanding productions in Polish cinematography for over four decades. Few people know that the most popular adaptation of this story is not the first one. The story of Rafał Wilczur was created as a film script in which Polish cinema was not interested. Ultimately, the writer adapted it into a novel, the success of which exceeded his wildest expectations.
Only then was the production undertaken, directed by Michał Waszyński. 45 years later, another adaptation of this story appeared on cinema screens, this time with the outstanding Jerzy Bińczycki in the main roles. The film almost immediately gained critical acclaim and stole the hearts of millions of viewers who still flock to their TV sets during broadcast hours.
When is “The Quack” on Netflix? Premiere in just a few days
When the information appeared that Netflix had decided to create another version of “The Quack”, fans of the original did not hide their skeptical attitude. However, the creators assured that it would not be a remake of Hoffman’s film, but a completely new, contemporary version. This time, the character of Professor Rafał Wilczur was created on screen. A galaxy of the biggest stars and actors of the young generation appeared at his side, including: Maria Kowalska, Anna Szymańczyk, Mikołaj Grabowski, Izabela Kuna, Łukasz Szczepanowski, Artur Barciś, Ignacy Liss, Piotr Rogucki and Jarosław Gruda.
So far, several pre-premiere screenings have been held, and the reviews published after them give hope that this will be another success of Polish cinema. The delights do not diminish even after the official premiere, which took place on September 18, 2023 at the National Theater in Warsaw. When will the movie be available on Netflix? As announced, “Znachor” by Michał Gazda will join the platform’s library in just a few days, on September 27, 2023, and will be available in as many as 90 countries around the world.
