They have been creating the Ani Mru Mru cabaret for almost 25 years. Marcin Wójcik revealed what their private relationships look like

For almost 25 years, the skits of the Ani Mru Mru cabaret have been entertaining Polish audiences until they cry. Now it turns out that the comedians have almost no contact with each other privately. Micha³ Wójcik talked about their relationships outside of work in an interview with “Fakt”.

Ani Mru Mru was created in the late 1990s on the initiative of Marcin Wójcik. The first programs immediately gained recognition from the audience, bringing the group popularity that continues to this day. However, real success came only in 2001, when the current line-up became clear, which, apart from the founder, also includes Waldemar Wilkołek.

It cannot be denied that such long-term cooperation is rare on the Polish scene. Usually groups break up after a few years or their members change from time to time. In this respect, Ani Mru Mru is an exception. This does not mean, however, that there have never been any tensions or more serious crises between comedians. In an interview for Marcin Wójcik, he revealed that after about 6 years the first serious glitches appeared, but, as he argues, this is inevitable. They spend almost all their time together on the road, so there are misunderstandings and situations that set them apart. – During the tour, we stay in hotels together and travel to performances in one car. To be honest, it’s not even a question of over 20 years, because the first frictions and first fatigue appeared after five or six years of working together. But I think that’s normal in every group. Even the Beatles broke up because of it, said the actor. It turns out that they have found a way that allows them to rest from each other.

Wójcik talked about the background of his acquaintance with the cabaret members. What is their relationship like?

In an interview, Wójcik admitted that the recipe for such fruitful cooperation is to gain distance. Therefore, between performances, each cabaret member goes about his or her own life. This means that they only have contact with each other while working and preparing for performances, and they try to use their free time to rest from each other. – We rarely call each other. We don’t go on vacation together, so we take a break from each other, he said. This means that when they finally hit the road, they have a lot to talk about and catch up on. – When we are on tour and spend a few days together, we have something to talk about and we are not tired of each other. I think this is good in any group that works together and each of the guys would say that we are doing it very well – said the comedian.
