In 2002, the third edition of the popular reality show “Big Brother” was broadcast. One of the participants was Monika Goździalska, who was already a recognizable model in Europe. Although her adventure with the program did not last very long due to health problems, and she later went abroad, she visited Polish show business salons from time to time.
Monika Goździalska’s daughter experienced a nightmare in Poland. All because she’s a lesbian
The businesswoman has been in the news again in recent weeks because she became the heroine of the new Polsat reality show “The Real Housewives. Wives of Warsaw”. Therefore, she recently gave a personal interview to the editorial office of “Party” magazine. The celebrity was asked about her stay in Paris, the film adaptation of her book, health problems and business matters.
However, later in the conversation, the topic of her family came up. A few years ago, the heroine of “On Warsaw” decided to say that her daughter Natalia is a lesbian. This step sparked hateful reactions from Internet users. Goździalska mentioned in an interview how the then ubiquitous hate affected her family, which resulted in the decision to move to Spain.
She came to me and said that she didn’t want to live. The desire to attempt suicide is nothing compared to everything that the mother of a child who does not want to live experiences. This is something you don’t want to experience. This is trauma for the parent. I was afraid for many years that I would lose her, admitted Monika Goździalska.
However, the celebrity also pointed out the good sides of this unpleasant situation. “My departure was also associated with a good thing. Many mothers wrote: ‘Monika, thank you very much. I look at my homosexual child differently’. Many mothers started talking to their children, so I was a precursor of good changes,” she admitted.
She also revealed that her daughter Natalia is currently happy and lives in Spain, and “she doesn’t love her country.” The businesswoman took the liberty of saying what she thinks about unequal treatment in Poland due to sexual orientation:
Talking about sexuality and sleeping with someone is completely private. People who interfere with who sleeps with whom are sick. This country is strange and this world is strange, she concluded.
You need help?
LGBT people are exposed to discrimination in all spheres of their lives: at work, at school, at university, at home and in public places. Activists of the Campaign Against Homophobia indicate that over half of LGBT teenagers in Poland have suicidal thoughts, and over 90%. has symptoms of depression – that is why the support of adults, especially family, is so important for them. A non-heteronormative teenager or teenager should feel that their parents are on their side and support them.
What to do? First of all – don’t judge. Secondly, listen with openness to what the child has to say and accept these experiences. It will be helpful to ask: “What do you need from me?” More information about this can be found on the website.
