In 2022, Professor Wojciech Roszkowski’s textbook on History and Present caused quite an outcry. To say that the author has included biased content is like saying nothing. Although many thought it was impossible – the second part of the manual seems to contain even more shocking “facts”. Which, we remind you, children will learn in schools.
The “History and Present” manual has a second part. Contents? It’s interesting
Roszkowski downplays human rights in the textbook, demonizes ecology, dismisses those fighting for legal abortion, calls in vitro “breeding” people, and devotes three sentences to Lech Wałęsa. John Paul II received much more space in the textbook. A quote from the pope appears at the beginning of the book, then the character appears every few pages – in the content and in the photos.
In “HiT 2” there were also mentions of cultural creations. The author of the book has meticulously explained which content is unacceptable and harmful. “Rape, killing and inflicting suffering have become part of the world of entertainment,” roars Roszkowski, apparently not understanding the idea of horror cinema. But it’s not just movies that get hit in a paragraph decorated, of course, with a photo of John Paul II.
Computer games ‘teach you how to kill’. “HiT2” warns young people
“The words of popular rap songs sometimes contain obscene phrases or encouragement to violence or suicide” – points out Roszkowski, again overinterpreting the content that artists – not only hip-hop – convey in their art. Computer games are also bad because – you know – “they teach how to kill”.
There could be only one summary of the paragraph, the listed cultural creations contribute almost exclusively to the degradation of society. “The constantly shifted border of ‘decency’ has completely disappeared. These phenomena were a reflection of the growing crime wave, but they also significantly contributed to its increase” – concludes Roszkowski.
The author of the textbook also notes the decline of authorities. He emphasizes that the heroes of the late 20th century are “people representing great idealism, such as Mother Teresa”, but at the same time notes that others are impressed by “extreme nihilism in the person of Charles Manson or the rock band Marilyn Manson”. Two bad Mansons will be students, although easy to remember.
