The Bilbao director Pablo Berger will compete in the Official Section of the Sitges Film Festival with his new animated feature film “Robot Dreams” after having screened it in May at the Cannes festival.
Dog is a lonely dog who lives in Manhattan. One day he decides to build himself a robot, a friend. Their friendship grows, until they become inseparable, to the rhythm of New York in the eighties. One summer night, Dog, with great grief, is forced to abandon Robot on the beach. Will they meet again?
“Robot Dreams” can be seen in Hegoalde cinemas from December 6.
For her part, Carlota Pereda from Madrid (she made her debut with the feature film “Cerdita”) will present the film “La ermita” in the coastal city of Barcelona, produced by the Basque company Bixagu Entertainment. The film, which has the participation of EITB, can also be seen in the Official Section, although out of competition.
“La ermita”, starring Belén Rueda, was filmed in Euskal Herria, and has in its cast the newcomer Maia Zaitegi, Josean Bengoetxea, Loreto Mauelon, Jon Olivares, Elena Irureta and Nagore Aranburu.
Emma (Maia Zaitegi) wants to learn to communicate with the spirit of a girl who has been trapped in her village’s hermitage for centuries. She tries to convince Carol (Belén Rueda), an incredulous and false medium, to teach her how to talk to ghosts. Her help will be the only way to stay together with her sick mother when she dies. If Carol doesn’t protect her, Emma’s life will be in danger.
“La ermita” can be seen in Hegoalde cinemas from November 17.
