Before starting his career at Manchester City, Gundogan had spells at Bochum, Nuremberg and Borussia Dortmund, where he acted alongside Lewandowski. It was in July 2016 that the player signed a contract with the English team, in a negotiation of 20 million pounds (R$ 103.5 million at the time).
The reinforcement was one of the first of coach Pep Guardiola in charge of the Citizens. In seven seasons defending the team, the midfielder accumulated 304 games, 60 goals and 40 assists.
In titles, there are five Premier Leagues, two FA Cups, two FA Super Cups and four English League Cups. The most recent achievement was the Champions League, where Gundogan captained City and made his last appearance on the pitch for the team.
“For me it has been a privilege and a pleasure to be a part of Manchester City for the past seven years. Manchester has been my home and I feel like part of a very special family. I was lucky to have experienced so many unforgettable moments, being captain in this extra special period was the greatest experience of my career”, said Gundogan referring to last season’s Triple Crown.
On social media, Gundogan also thanked City and said goodbye for the last time.
“After seven years, a wonderful time ends. You made me realize all my dreams. I will carry you forever in my heart. Once blue, always blue! Thanks Manchester City,” she wrote.
