The Museum of Anthropological and Contemporary Art, with the support of the Tecnológico Espíritu Santo and the photographer Manuel Avilés, presents the cultural event “HUAORANI TOUR”, which aims to reveal to the public the traditions, customs and customs of this ancestral people.

The Huaorani or Waorani nationality, self-proclaimed “Wao” – a name that sounds like “the people” – stands as the essence of this enriching experience. The Huaorani, once known as Aucas or Aushiris, are the last guardians of their heritage, intact since the Spanish conquest in the 14th century.

The tourism career of Tecnológico Espíritu Santo (TES) has led a group of Amazonian Waorani to support their ventures and learn more about their culture. Through this event, the aim is to reveal the fascinating history and way of life of this enigmatic community that was first recorded in 1940.

The event will take place on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM in the facilities of the Museum of Anthropological and Contemporary Art (MAAC).(I)
