The 8-year-old girl left school and no trace of her was left. Three years later, my sister committed suicide

It has been 27 years since the mysterious disappearance of 8-year-old Debbie Sassen. On an unlucky day, the girl was coming home from school and as if she had vanished into thin air. To this day no one knows what happened to her.

Debbie studied at St. Henri Dunant in Düsseldorf, Germany. On February 13, 1996, she left home with her older sister, Anita. The girls lived only a few hundred meters from the school. Unfortunately, on the way back Debbie disappeared.

Debbie was last seen at school. After that, no trace of her was lost

The last lesson was swimming, after which Debbie returned to school to get her backpack. She left the building and this is the last time anyone saw her. Debbie was supposed to go back the way she came, but she never made it home. After two hours, the girl’s partner, Jürgen Funke, became concerned and finally came forward. The cops combed everything from allotments to ponds, but there was no sign of Debbie. None of the girl’s belongings: backpack, water bottle and keys were ever found.
