Thousands of fans celebrate Bayern’s title in Munich

Thousands of Bayern fans gathered this Sunday (28) at the Marienplatz square in Munich to celebrate the title of the German Championship conquered this weekend.

The heavy mood in the club’s board, which announced the sacking of sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic and chief executive Oliver Khan minutes after Saturday’s victory over Cologne, postponed the celebrations until the next day.

Around 15,000 people covered the Marienplatz square in red and white to celebrate the Bavarian giants’ 11th consecutive Bundesliga title.

Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and midfielder Lina Magull, captain of the women’s team, which was also German champion, greeted the fans from the balcony of the Munich City Hall building and displayed the trophies given to the teams.

This is the fourth time that Bayern’s men’s and women’s teams have won the Bundesliga in the same season.

On Saturday, after a round full of emotions, coach Thomas Tuchel’s players beat Cologne 2-1 and snatched the title from the hands of Borussia Dortmund, who drew at home with Mainz when they needed a simple victory to be champion.

“I’m a little tired, but after the game and the whole season, being able to celebrate the title is an incredible feeling. Having had to fight until the end makes this title even more beautiful. I will remember this moment all my life” , declared Jamal Musiala, scorer of the winning goal over Cologne, during the celebrations.

In turn, the women’s team secured the title this Sunday, beating Potsdam 11-1.
