Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a congratulatory telegram to Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his election as President of Turkey. This was reported by the press service of the Kremlin.
In the telegram, Putin stressed that Moscow appreciates Erdogan’s contribution to strengthening relations between the countries and is ready to continue cooperation.
In particular, he highly appreciated the Turkish leader’s contribution to “strengthening friendly Russian-Turkish relations”, as well as mutually beneficial cooperation in various areas.
Putin confirmed his readiness to continue the Russian-Turkish constructive dialogue on topical issues on the bilateral, regional and international agenda. The President of the Russian Federation emphasized that Moscow attaches great importance to the further implementation of joint projects with Turkey, including the Akkuyu nuclear power plant and the gas hub.
Recall that the main rival of Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the elections was the representative of the opposition Kemal Kilicdaroglu. According to Anadolu, after processing 99.49% of the ballots, Erdogan gains 52.10%, Kılıçdaroglu – 47.90%.
